The history of Korea-Japan relations teaches that the mere willingness to attend a summit is not enough to heal ties full of mistrust and misunderstanding, she stressed.
Kim Yo Jong commented that for decades these ties have followed a trend of worsening because Tokyo insists on the now resolved issue of Japanese civilians held captive in the 1970s and 1980s, and on the legitimate right of the DPRK to develop its nuclear defensive system. If Japan respects our sovereign rights and security interests from an impartial and equal position, strengthening the DPRK’s self-defense capability will never be a threat to it, she stressed.
The Japanese premier should know the clear position of our government and know that his simple desire is not the factor that makes it possible for him to meet with the leadership of our State, she stated.

Relaciones con Japón dependen de Tokio, reitera dirigente de RPDC
Pyongyang, 25 mar (Prensa Latina) El mejoramiento de las relaciones entre la República Popular Democrática de Corea y Japón depende de Tokio, reiteró hoy la vicejefa del Departamento de Comunicación y Propaganda del Comité Central del Partido del Trabajo, Kim Yo Jong.
Cuerpo : La dirigente recordó que ya a mediados del pasado mes, en respuesta al interés del primer ministro nipón, Fumio Kishida, de celebrar una Cumbre RPDC-Japón, ella señaló que lo decisivo es la real voluntad de Japón de abrir nuevas vías de mejoramiento de los vínculos bilaterales.
Hace poco, él (Kishida) nos transmitió por otro canal su interés de reunirse lo más pronto posible con el presidente del Comité de Asuntos Estatales, Kim Jong Un, señaló la respetada hermana del líder de la RPDC en una nueva declaración que reproduce la agencia estatal de noticias KCNA.
La historia de las relaciones Corea-Japón enseña que la mera disposición de acudir a una cumbre no es suficiente para sanear unos vínculos llenos de desconfianza y desentendimiento, subrayó.
Kim Yo Jong comentó que durante decenios esos nexos han seguido una tendencia a empeorar porque Tokio insiste en el ya solucionado asunto de los civiles japoneses retenidos en las décadas de 1970 y 1980, y en el legítimo derecho de la RPDC de desarrollar su sistema defensivo nuclear.
Si Japón respeta nuestros derechos soberanos e intereses de seguridad desde una posición imparcial e igualitaria, el fortalecimiento de la capacidad de autodefensa de la RPDC nunca será nunca una amenaza para él, remarcó. El premier japonés debería conocer la clara posición de nuestro gobierno y saber que su simple deseo no es el factor que le hace posible reunirse con la dirección de nuestro Estado, sentenció.
