Thousands donate blood for victims of Moscow attack

Moscow, Mar 26 (Prensa Latina) More than 24,000 people from 86 Russian regions donated blood for the victims of Moscow's Crocus City Hall terrorist attack, the Federal Medical-Biological Agency's press service reported on Tuesday.

According to the message, the health institutions received more than 10,000 donors only in the city and the Moscow region, thanks to whom more than 4,200 liters of blood and 279 liters of plasma were collected for three days.

“A massive arrival of people to the blood collection centers is observed in the regions of Russia. There was a particularly high flow of donors in the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, in the Astrakhan region,” Veronika Skvortsova, head of the Russian Federal Medical-Biological Agency, said.

Skvortsova added that the blood service units have created conditions for a comfortable stay of donors and reinforced teams of staff and volunteers. “The country’s blood reserves and components are sufficient.”

On March 22 evening, a group of armed individuals wearing camouflage clothing opened fire at the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region.

At least 139 people were killed, and 182 were injured.

President Vladimir Putin promised to identify and punish all the Crocus City Hall attackers.
