Dignitaries and experts highlight Asia’s role in the world economy

Boao, China, March 28 (Prensa Latina) Dignitaries and world experts highlighted Asia's role in global development in the face of the challenges and uncertainty of the complex international scenario.

During the plenary session of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), participants agreed on the need to strengthen cooperation and the multilateral trading system in the face of the crisis.

The president of the forum and former UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, advocated a change of perspective in this regard. “The global crises have forced us to be in the same boat. We have no choice but to roll in the same direction, in the right direction. We face common challenges, we must assume our share of responsibilities,” he said during his speech.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, praised the resilience, ingenuity and dynamism of the continent. “Asia presents numerous opportunities for collaboration and growth, especially in sustainable development, digital innovation, and cultural exchange. This impressive rise to Asia is a true testament to the region’s remarkable resilience, boundless ingenuity, and unwavering dynamism,” he stressed.

The ruler of Nauru, David Adeang, who is on a state visit to China, called for conflict resolution and peaceful development. “We must reaffirm our dedication to building bridges of understanding, fostering empathy, and promoting reconciliation. Let us work together for a world in which all people can live with dignity, harmony, and prosperity, leaving a legacy of peace for future generations to inherit,” he said.

“The Boao Forum for Asia stands as a fundamental platform for global communication and exchange between nations in the current uncertainties and changes in the world,” said Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, who during an interview with China Media Group stressed the importance of ongoing dialogues between nations and people around the world, paved by platforms like the BFA, aiming at addressing ever-changing global challenges.

Topics such as innovation, health, culture, education, media, and economic security occupy a prominent place on the expanded agenda of this forum, known as the Davos of Asia.
