Pakistan launches an investigation into recent terrorist attack

Islamabad, Mar 28 (Prensa Latina) Pakistan began an exhaustive investigation into last Tuesday’s terrorist attack in Bisham, which caused the death of five Chinese workers at the Dassu Hydel energy project, according to local press reports.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered the investigation during an emergency meeting last Wednesday, and promised to use all state resources to capture those responsible for the terrorist attack. He also offered his deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the attack and assured that the perpetrators of this act, which he described as barbaric, will be brought to justice swiftly.

The prime minister appreciated the promptness with which law enforcement agencies and villagers responded, saving many lives, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.

Sharif highlighted the enduring bond of brotherhood between the people of Pakistan and China and conveyed that the entire nation is saddened by the deceased. “Terrorism is a transnational threat that has been instrumentalized by Pakistan’s enemies to hinder the country’s progress and development,” he emphasized, adding that acts against the friendship between Islamabad and Beijing are particularly aimed at creating mistrust between the two nations.

Pakistan has witnessed a spike in terrorist activities over the past year, after the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan terrorist organization ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022, media reported.

In recent days, the Pakistani military neutralized an assault on the Siddique Naval Station, the second largest in the country, located in the city of Turbat, leaving one soldier and four attackers dead.

A report published last month by the Center for Security Research and Studies said the country experienced 97 attacks in February, causing 87 deaths and 118 injured.
