ADF attack in DRC province leaves eight dead

Kinshasa, Mar 31 (Prensa Latina) An attack perpetrated by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the province of Ituri, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), today left eight civilians dead and a dozen wounded.

The day before, the rebels surprised the inhabitants of the neighborhood of Ndimokoto, in the village of Ndimo on the national road number 4 of the territory of Irumu with an intense fire, in which eight people were killed.

This locality had already been attacked on Thursday night, when four people lost their lives, among them a soldier of the Armed Forces of the DRC, Radio Okapi reported.

Meanwhile, in the Bundingili neighborhood of Zunguluka, another ADF group also killed four civilians, including three children, according to human rights activists, who also reported that 15 villagers were taken hostage to transport the loot after setting fire to 12 houses.

The ADF attacks in Walese Vonkutu chiefdom have increased in recent times, leaving at least 16 fatalities in the space of three days.

Also in the territory of Beni, North Kivu province, the violence of these rebels is increasing and, according to local civil society leaders, the insurgent group is responsible for more than 80 murders and 60 kidnappings since October 2023.
