Nine people die in attack on Iranian consulate

Damascus, Apr 2 (Prensa Latina) Seven military advisors of Iran's Revolutionary Guard and two Syrians lost their lives in the Israeli missile strike carried out on Monday against the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

According to sources cited by national media, generals Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Haj Rahimi, and officers Hussein Aman Allahi, Seyyed Mehdi Jalalati, Mohsen Sadaqat, Ali Agha Babaei and Seyed Ali Salehi Rozbehani, were killed in the attack.

Sources revealed that General Reza Zahedi was the supreme commander of the Quds Force in Syria and Lebanon.

The Syrian Defense Ministry reported that Israel launched an attack with missiles from the occupied Syrian Golan, causing the destruction of the Iranian consulate building and killing and injuring all those present.

The attack took place 24 hours after a similar one on positions in the outskirts of the capital, in which two civilians were injured.

A similar attack took place last Friday against the northern province of Aleppo, where at least 40 soldiers and civilians were killed and dozens injured.

Iran deployed militias and military advisors to Syria at the request of the government to assist in the fight against terrorist organizations.

The United States and Israel have bombed Iranian positions on several occasions, which Damascus claims seeks to weaken the forces fighting terrorism.
