“They have not been able to and will not be able to, Venezuela is rising up with strength despite their hatred and wickedness,” the top diplomat wrote on his X account, while commenting on a message from opposition politician Leopoldo López, who is fugitive from justice and resides in Europe.
López asked the United States to be consistent with the sanctions against the Bolivarian Republic and said, “There must be a response and should not continue with the scheme of having relaxed the sanctions, it is the response we expect.”
On Wednesday, Gil praised the vote within the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC), where 32 countries opposed the imposition of unilateral coercive measures.
“There is no longer any way to cover up the crimes against humanity perpetrated by the United States and its allies,” the head of Venezuelan diplomacy wrote on X.
He stressed that this vote recognizes “their negative impact” on people and their contradiction with international law and the principle of sovereign equality among nations.
