Italian Lucia Altieri in Cuba in farewell concert

Havana, Apr 13 (Prensa Latina) A tribute concert to Italian Lucía Altieri will take place at the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater of Cuba for her 60-year career and her definitive farewell to the artistic scene.

Sponsored by the Italian Embassy in Cuba and by the Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (EGREM), the curtains will be drawn at 7:00 p.m. local time.

With this concert, EGREM and the diplomatic headquarters, in addition to the artist’s friends, will give way to a show in which Altieri, the most Cuban of the Italians, will give the island’s public her best moments and songs by performers from the island.

Precisely, this April 13, Altieri is turning 86 years old, and more than 30 years ago she decided to settle in Cuba, where she found values and the strength of women, as the element she admires the most.

She has on this island her second homeland, according to her own words.

I have always been fascinated by Cuban women, so generous and involved in the whole process of construction, even with so many difficulties they fight for this nation, the Italian artist said.

In a recent interview with Prensa Latina, Altieri also referred to her interest in Cuba’s cultural life, to which, she confessed, she could not remain indifferent.

Altieri announced last year that she would retire from the stage because it is time, although she still feels she has a chance of getting on stage.

An artist must leave that world at the right time, she clarified, and not when he (or she) is decadent.
