Moscow, Apr 17 (Prensa Latina) Two earthquakes measuring 4.8 and 5.2 degrees on the Richter scale were registered off the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula, in far eastern Russia, on Wednesday, the Geophysical Service of the Academy of Sciences reported on Wednesday. The scientific institution informed on Telegram that the first 5.2-magnitude telluric movement occurred in the Bay of Kamchatka, and the second 4.8-magnitude earth tremor had its epicenter 44 kilometers from the village of Tilichiki, in the southern region of the peninsula.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kamchatka reported that the two earthquakes were not felt in inhabited regions, and no phone calls were made to the geophysical service.

The Academy of Sciences recalled that earthquake reports have been frequent in the Kamchatka Peninsula and the Kuril Arc over the last 12 months, although none have been of great intensity.
