Mexican President rejects U.S. stance towards sovereign peoples

Mexico City, Apr 25 (Prensa Latina) The U.S. Department of State (DOS) has no right to be extending letters of good conduct to independent and sovereign nations and peoples, the Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) said.

During his usual press conference, AMLO considered it too regrettable that this institution relies on “pure garbage information” from adversaries of the government of this Latin American country and that it lies, when referring to the report of the neighboring nation in which it points out Mexico for alleged human rights violations.

“The only thing is to ask the DOS to review its recommendations, because they violate the sovereignty of the peoples,” he stressed.

“They say: ‘no, we have been doing it since 1977’. Well, take it out, because it is obsolete. And then they say: ‘we do it to inform the Senate about who is behaving well, who is behaving badly, so that we can give help to those who behave well’. That is false,” the governor, pointing out that aid to the area in recent decades has been military, not humanitarian, said.

AMLO reiterated his administration has been insisting that Washington allocate resources to the poor peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean to face the migratory phenomenon by attending to the causes, but in the northern nation they have not approved it.
