Uruguay registered 107 Covid-19 deaths in 2023

Montevideo, May 2 (Prensa Latina) In 2023, 107 persons died in Uruguay as a result of Covid-19, which today registers one million 357,893 confirmed cases of the coronavirus.

According to the latest data from the website datosmacro.expansión.com, the South American country is among the those with the lowest rate of contagion at present. The total number of deaths reached 7,625, in a nation with 3,426,260 inhabitants.

During the pandemic, the government of President Luis Lacalle Pou applied a policy of ‘responsible openness’, with restrictions, vaccination, and economic vitality, this may explain why around one-third of the population was infected.
