French film against LGBT phobia to be screened in Cuba

Havana, May 15 (Prensa Latina) As part of International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), organized during the French Culture Month in Cuba, the sports movie "The Shiny Shrimp" (2019) will be screened in Havana on Friday.

The movie to honor the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be exhibited at the Alliance Française branch on Prado Street at 19:30 hours, local time. Afterward, a debate will be held.

The International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia is celebrated on May 17 to denounce discrimination against people with sexual preferences different from the conventional ones.

“The Shiny Shrimp,” directed by Cédric Le Gallo and Maxime Govare, tells the story of Mathias Le Goff, a world swimming champion, when he was sanctioned to train a gay water polo team after making homophobic comments.

This explosive team will travel to Croatia to participate in the Gay Games, the world’s largest gay sports event.

The 8th edition of the French Culture Month in Cuba takes is taking place until May 31, with a strong sporting presence in its events during the run-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
