Multimillion-dollar investments favor thousands of Bolivian families

La Paz, May 22 (Prensa Latina) More than 40 thousand Bolivian peasant families will benefit from a multi-million-dollar investment in irrigation projects, drilling wells, improving roads and building bridges carried out by the Bolivian government.

During an event at the Casa Grande del Pueblo, President Luis Arce made possible the disbursement of 293,374,000 bolivianos (nearly 42 million dollars) aimed at enhancing the productive capacities of the agricultural sector.

Financing is supported by 313 intergovernmental agreements signed with authorities of the beneficiary municipalities in the context of the Empoderar (PAR III), Well Execution Unit and the Indigenous Development Fund (FDI) programs.

“With all these programs we are going to distribute 293 million bolivianos for agricultural production, which will substantially improve the growth rate of the Gross Domestic Product and will satisfy the need for food throughout the country,” expressed the head of state, while highlighting the importance of injecting economic resources into rural areas, because, he noted, they are the suppliers of food to the large urban centers of Bolivia.

Arce announced that he will continue to strengthen the work of the country’s agricultural families, because this will also guarantee the raw materials for the more than 150 industrial plants being built throughout the national territory.

The president of the Federation of Municipal Associations of Bolivia (FAM-Bolivia), Flavio Merlo, thanked and highlighted the government’s support for agricultural families because it will guarantee food for the country. “Agricultural production will be strengthened and resources will be generated. There will be economic movement and the communities will benefit, in addition, food security will be guaranteed,” he emphasized.
