The diplomat noted that despite the Constitution being an internal matter of each country, Japan should be aware that renouncing “war as a sovereign right of the nation and using force to settle international disputes” will have foreign policy consequences.

Vorobieva said that rejecting this pacifist stance will lead to new security challenges, increase tensions in the Asia-Pacific region, and stimulate a new arms race.
