Discussions for Ethiopia’s national dialogue agenda to begin

Addis Ababa, May 26 (Prensa Latina) The regional states and municipal administrations will begin on May 29 working sessions to discuss the issues to be presented in the national dialogue planned in Ethiopia, an official source revealed.

The commissioner of the National Dialogue Commission, Ambye Ogato, told Ethiopia News Agency that they have made all the necessary preparations to start the process, in which they expect the contribution of all stakeholders.

Ogato affirmed that this process will demonstrate that the country can solve all its challenges through constructive and inclusive dialogues.

He specified that at this stage, the participants will jointly select relevant agenda items for discussion and facilitate the atmosphere in which they will resolve simpler issues within their radius of action.

Ethiopia’s National Dialogue Commission was established by the House of Peoples’ Representatives (parliament) with 11 commissioners to lead an independent, inclusive and transparent process across the country.

The main objective is to facilitate consultations among various segments of society on issues fundamental to the root causes of existing differences through dialogue.

Since its inception, the commission has carried out a variety of activities, involving numerous stakeholders at the federal and regional levels, including civic societies. So far it has identified representatives from ten regional states and two municipal administrations in a free and impartial manner.
