Brazilian vice president pays official visit to China

Beijing, Jun 6 (Prensa Latina) Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin is paying an official visit to China on the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Foreign Ministry announced in this capital on Thursday.

The local Foreign Ministry informed that Alckmin will visit Beijing until June 8 on an invitation by Chinese Vice President Han Zheng.

Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Mao Ning noted that China and Brazil are major developing countries with leading emerging markets and are comprehensive strategic partners.

The spokeswoman stated that 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 20th anniversary of establishing the China-Brazil High-Level Coordination and Cooperation Committee (COSBAN). China hopes to take advantage of Vice President Alckmin’s visit to consolidate political mutual trust between the two sides.

Mao also called for strengthening strategic communication, deepening practical cooperation in several fields, and promoting further deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Brazil.

During his visit, Alckmin and his delegation will attend the 7th meeting of COSBAN.
