Cuban Embassy in Dominican Republic rejects Marco Rubio’s statements

Santo Domingo, Feb 6 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Embassy in the Dominican Republic on Thursday rejected the statements by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who accused the Caribbean island, Venezuela and Nicaragua of creating instability in the region.

“The Cuban Embassy in the Dominican Republic strongly rejects the unacceptable, lying and interventionist statements by the US Secretary of State,” the diplomatic mission wrote on its social networks minutes after the end of the press conference given by Rubio and the Dominican president at the National Palace.

“The only government that has brought instability, hunger and war to the continent is the United States. Cuba shall overcome!” the Cuban representation in this country added.

During the press conference, the newly appointed Secretary of State noted that “the three nations are enemies of humanity” and accused them of contributing to the instability of the region.

This week, during his visit to San José, Costa Rica, as part of his tour of Central America and the Caribbean, Rubio stated, “Those three regimes that exist, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Cuba, are enemies of humanity and have created a migration crisis. If it were not for those three regimes there would not be a migration crisis in the hemisphere.”

In rejection of Marco Rubio’s statements, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel wrote on his X account, “Shamelessness once again taking over the cynical politicians of the United States.”

“It is proven that the migration exodus in Cuba is proportional to the tightening of the blockade, which deprives our people of essential goods. Humanity is in danger because of your neo-fascism,” the Cuban president noted.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, in turn, pointed out on X that the projection of the United States towards Latin America and the Caribbean promoted by the Secretary of State is a threat to the region.
