At a press conference with national and international media, Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez denounced the conspiratorial plot by ExxonMobil, together with the right wing, around the international campaign against the Bolivarian Republic, which includes Guyana.
“Sanctions on Venezuela’s oil, less money means less power”, was the document presented to journalists by the senior official, which revealed the lobby of this transnational company against the oil licensees in this South American country.
Rodríguez recounted the impact of the company in fuelling the controversy over the Guayana Esequiba territory, with the discovery in 2015 of large oil reserves in an area that has yet to be demarcated, and how it planned to take the case to the International Court of Justice in 2016, together with the government of Guyana.
The Bolivarian Republic has the right to this territory and is its sole owner, as recorded in historical documents, so “we have the right of free navigation in this sea to be delimited”, she reiterated.
President Nicolás Maduro also announced that the country is open to all international investments in oil, gas, petrochemicals and refining; the doors are wide open “for the world to come and produce and earn”, he stressed.
The President revealed that in February, according to official data, daily production reached an average of one million 58,000 barrels of oil, a growth trend that he said should continue in March.
Jorge Rodríguez, the Venezuelan commissioner for peace dialogues, also reported on the resumption of flights from the United States as part of the “Return to the Homeland” plan agreed with US special envoy Richard Grenell.
In this way, he said, the Venezuelan executive was “protecting the human rights of our fellow migrants and ensuring the reunification of families”.
Cabello then explained that the flights, which were due to resume the day before, had been postponed due to weather problems in the north of the country.
At the end of the week, Maduro and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin held a video conference to celebrate eight decades of relations and highlighted the strategic alliance between the two states.
