This commemoration resulted in a cordial meeting between Cuban diplomats in Harare and executives and officials of Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
The excellent state of bilateral ties, the willingness to identify new areas of cooperation, and the need to strengthen economic and trade links were among topics brought up by Cuban Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Susellys Perez Mesa, and the Ministry’s Director General, Rofina Chikava.
Both sides agreed on bequeathing to younger generations the historical legacy of mutual brotherhood dating back to the years preceding Zimbabwe’s independence.
The experienced Zimbabwean diplomat acknowledged Cuba’s sustained contribution to her country in key areas such as health and education, as part of which over 3,000 Zimbabweans have graduated in Cuba, while Cuban doctors have been uninterruptedly providing services here since 1987.
The Zimbabwean side was represented by Director for Africa, Asia, and the Pacific, Mqabuko Spencer Dube; Deputy Director in the Department of Diaspora Investment, Edson Jr. Sithole; and Deputy Director of the Department of Europe and America, Charles Chishiri, among others.
Minister Counselor Luis Enrique Gonzalez Acosta and Second Secretary Zailin Gaulhiac Moragues accompanied the Cuban Ambassador.
