“The starvation in Gaza is not incidental, it is deliberate, and completely engineered,” Oxfam’s food security coordinator in Gaza, Mahmoud Alsaqqa, affirmed in a statement.
The activist considered it inconceivable that the world allows such a situation in the coastal enclave.
Alsaqqa underscored that for more than two months, Israel has been enforcing a total siege, blocking the entry of food, water, and medicine, while thousands of trucks laden with supplies are ready on the Egyptian border for distribution.
He said, “Families are fading from hunger, malnourished children are too weak to cry, and entire communities are surviving without food or clean water.”
Oxfam criticized a US project, in partnership with Israel, that militarizes the delivery of humanitarian aid in that territory, which is the home of more than two million Palestinians.
It underscored that the plan is an egregious violation of international humanitarian law and threatens to aggravate an already catastrophic crisis.
Several UN agencies have strongly criticized Israel’s blockade in the last few hours.
