The announcement was made at a joint press conference by Shinawatra and her Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Minh Chinh, at the conclusion of the 4th Vietnam-Thailand Joint Cabinet Meeting, which, they said, defined many important strategic lines.
According to the Vietnamese Prime Minister, this decision is a significant event that helps create a peaceful and stable environment for security and defense in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region and will contribute to the rapid and sustainable socioeconomic development of both nations.
We advocate for the urgent development of an Action Program to implement the Vietnam-Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the period 2025-2030 based on three key pillars, which are launching pads for taking bilateral ties to a new level, Minh Chinh explained.
He further explained that these three fundamental pillars are the partnership for peace, development, and a sustainable future, which, together with the foundation of friendship, shared vision, and strategic trust, will allow bilateral relations to continue to develop strongly.
Shinawatra, for his part, extolled that high level of bilateral relations shows how important they are for both countries, thus opening a new era for these ties in a global setting with many complex and unpredictable developments.
He also announced that he will invite his Vietnamese counterpart to attend the Mekong-Lancang Conference, to be held in Thailand at the end of 2025, as well as the commemorative activities for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Hanoi and Bangkok next year.
