The workshop “Business Management and Local Development” will target municipal strategic planning and its coordination with government programs for 2025.
The event will seek to strengthen territorial management capacities to improve production and social outcomes.
Pedro Lino del Pozo, symposium coordinator, emphasized that the event “goes beyond theory to offer methodologies with practical use, already validated in Cuban territories.”
As an example, he cited the case of the country’s first high-tech manufacturing company, based in Camagüey, which has proved how innovation can generate import substitution and skilled jobs.
Nestor Loredo Carballo, Coordinator of the Doctoral Program, emphasized that “organizational innovation becomes our main competitive advantage.”
He emphasized that management models based on human capital and cultural roots—which are difficult to replicate—take on special relevance in the face of financial limitations.
The workshop will pay special attention to the alignment of municipal strategies with the Sustainable Development Goals. “They require precise diagnoses that leverage local potential in food sovereignty, renewable energy, and social equity,” Loredo explained.
Among the case studies, the experience of Luaces solar park— the largest in Camaguey province— will be presented as a model for the coordination of science, government, and foreign investment.
