Government takes measures to ensure safe pilgrimage in India

New Delhi, May 29 (Prensa Latina) The Indian government announced that it will deploy paramilitary forces in the central region of the country to secure pilgrimage routes and their surrounding areas for the start of the annual Amarnath Yatra.

According to the central government, a total of 581 paramilitary force companies will be stationed in the Jammu and Kashmir regions to ensure a safe and smooth Yatra.

The Ministry of Home Affairs authorized the government and police in those territories to hire 156 security companies already stationed in the region.

The deployed forces will be responsible for securing the Amarnath rock shrine, managing pilgrim caravans, monitoring sensitive sections, and maintaining a constant presence along the Baltal and Pahalgam routes.

The Amarnath Temple is an important shrine for Hinduism located in the Jammu and Kashmir regions.

This cave is located at an altitude of 3,888 meters in the Sind Valley.

The site is surrounded by glaciers and snow-capped mountains, so it remains covered in snow for most of the year, except for a brief period in summer, when it is open to pilgrims.
