Speaking to the press shortly after docking at Saigon port, the ship’s senior commanding officer noted that this trip also strengthens the alliance between the two countries in the Indo-Pacific region, contributing to maritime security, sustainable management of marine resources, and regional strategic integration.
During their stay in that Indochinese city, the officers and crew will pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh by laying a wreath at his statue on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street, according to the city’s Department of Foreign Affairs.
In addition, they will pay courtesy visits to the leaders of the municipal People’s Committee, and to the Command of Military Region 7 and the Command of Naval Region 2.
The Indian officers and sailors will also visit the city’s cultural and historical sites, participate in friendly sports exchanges with the Vietnam People’s Navy, and receive local delegations who will tour the vessel.
The INS Darshak, according to VNA news agency reporting on the visit, features advanced surveying and digital data processing systems, a modern sonar, tools for measuring water column density, and sensors for monitoring tides and weather conditions.
