In statements to the Informe Pastrán newsletter, Mansell announced that Nicaragua closed the month of April with 99.6 percent coverage, guaranteeing access to energy for thousands of Nicaraguan families.
According to the source, 69 projects have been executed during the year, allowing the electrification of 3,115 homes, benefiting more than 19,490 people.
Mansell highlighted the sustained growth in energy demand due to the country’s economic development, which has driven the construction of new homes. “Every day, there are more homes nationwide, logically demanding and taking advantage of the infrastructure our government has been building for the well-being and peace of mind of Nicaraguan families,” he said.
The minister mentioned an electrification plan for the 2025-2030 period, which has an investment of $160 million and includes the execution of 1,983 projects, which aim to benefit 141,132 homes.
Alongside, the government is moving forward with the public lighting program, with the installation of more than 5,890 streetlights nationwide.
Mansell specified that the efforts include coordination with communities to visit neighborhoods and cities, identify needs, repair, and expand coverage with the installation of 18,000 new streetlights. “It is a joint effort with our people, which is the most important thing,” he emphasized.
