As Cambodian and Thai military leaders hold talks to ease tensions following the confrontation, Manet and Shinawatra stressed the need to seek a non-violent solution.
The incident, a 10-minute gunfight, occurred around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday in Mom Bei, an incident for which the Cambodian and Thai armies are accusing each other.
Thai army spokesman Maj. Gen. Winthai Suvaree said the event took place in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand, while the Cambodian Defense Ministry said it occurred in Techo Morakot village, Cambodia.
Senior officials from both armies are reportedly continuing negotiations to de-escalate tensions.
Cambodia has deployed military reinforcements to the area over the past two days in response to the possibility of a more serious incident.
