The event that is sponsored by the Hermanos Saiz Association will bring together more than fifteen bands, both foreign and Cuban, which will champion the genre on various streets in the city of Matanzas.

According to the official program of the event, the city’s downtown, will welcome the musical presentations and the collateral activities.

A tattoo fair, theoretical events, photography exhibitions, and the literary contest La historia friki will complement the musical schedule.

According to Yadiel Duran, president of the Hermanos Saiz Association in Matanzas province, the festival has become a platform to legitimize Cuban bands in the cultural field and a way to share their music with foreign artists.

Inspired on the slogan “Rock is not dead,” the 16th edition of the Atenas Rock Festival seeks to keep alive the legacy of one of the most deeply rooted genres among the Matanzas population, as well as to give space to new bands defending this musical genre.
