“He is a world reference in the field of youth and adult education, he developed literacy projects not only in Latin America, he was also in Africa”, Coronel told this news agency on the occasion of Iiicab’s 50th anniversary.
Our Institute was honored to have his presence,“ said Coronel, ”and we remember that he made many contributions, he passed away on September 11, 2024, however, he left as a legacy an impressive human work”.
Canfux stood out in Cuba since 1961 in the National Literacy Campaign and in Adult Education.
Later, his work as coordinator of the technical and methodological work of the Battle for the Sixth Grade and later for the ninth grade was very active.
Founder and head of the Chair of Literacy and Youth and Adult Education of the Latin American and Caribbean Pedagogical Institute (Iplac), he worked intensively in the conception and implementation of the programs “Yo sí puedo” and “Yo sí puedo seguir”, which are applied in 21 countries.
Under his direction and coordination, the Chair received three major awards from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
