Government of Djibouti and WHO discussed strengthening bilateral ties

Djibouti, June 3 (Prensa Latina) The Prime Minister of Djibouti, Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed, met with Joumana Hermez, the World Health Organization (WHO) Resident Representative in the country, to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The WHO Deputy Representative in Djibouti, Farahad Hassan Farah, and the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, Ali Silaye Abdallah, participated in the meeting.

The courtesy visit provided an opportunity to review WHO priorities in Djibouti as part of its support to modernize the public health system.

The dialogue highlighted the shared desire to strengthen cooperation between the two parties to promote equitable access to quality health care for the entire population.

Topics discussed included strengthening health infrastructure, improving facilities, and the training and professional development of health care personnel. Particular attention was paid to the need to serve the most vulnerable population groups, such as women, children, refugees, and rural residents.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of close collaboration with the WHO to strengthen the country’s capacity to effectively address the structural challenges in the sector. He also praised the international organization’s renowned experience in preventing and managing health crises, including pandemics and natural disasters.
