As is tradition at this annual meeting, the Director-General of the multilateral organization, Audrey Azoulay, was in charge of the welcomming ceremony, accompanied, according to the organizers, by the Vice President of Bolivia, David Choquehuanca. Among the activities are: colloquiums, exhibitions, talks, tastings of typical Latin American and Caribbean products, a film festival, and musical performances.
Tuesday’s agenda includes a forum on the challenges of safeguarding biocultural diversity and a bazaar at UNESCO’s central hall with stands from Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela.
Guatemala and Honduras present a traditional menu, Panama presents music, and the film festival kicked off with the screening of the Chilean film “La cordillera de los sueños” (The Mountain Range of Dreams).
