Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian pointed out that there is no possible comparison between the two sides and criticized any attempt to distort the nature of the problem, while demanding respect for the one-China principle.
In this regard, the spokesman reaffirmed that Taiwan is an inseparable part of Chinese territory and that its issue is an internal matter.
Regarding the South China Sea, he indicated that the situation in the area is stable and that there is freedom of navigation and overflight in accordance with international law.
He stressed that disagreements should be resolved through negotiations between the countries directly involved, without external interference that could generate tensions.
On the possible expansion of NATO in the Asia-Pacific region, Lin Jian expressed Beijing’s firm rejection and recalled that NATO is a regional and defensive military organization, with no legitimacy to act outside its original geographical scope.
He stressed that the presence of the alliance in the region would only contribute to instability.
