Cuba highlights priorities as a BRICS partner country

Nizhni Novgorod, Russia, Jun 4 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Minister of Communications, Mayra Arevich, stated today in Russia in an interview with the multinational network TVBrics the priorities of her country in its capacity as a Brics partner country.

Arevich, who heads the Cuban delegation to the Innovations and Services Fair and the Digital Forum taking place in this Russian city since June 2, explained that the partnership with the BRICS opens new opportunities for Cuba in science, technology, and international cooperation.

The minister said: “The possibility of being in the artificial intelligence (AI) alliance with the BRICS will open a path of integration and work for professionals of the association and Cubans in projects that are not only made for our peoples, but also for the world of the bloc’s countries. I believe we have potentialities.”

Minister Mayra Arevich also recalled that Cuba acquired the BRICS partnership status in 2024 and ever since has been actively implementing joint initiatives. According to the minister, the partnership with the association has raised the status of the science and technology park in Havana.

She underscored that Cuba is betting not only on the technological field but also on the social one.

Arevich added that the digital forum has become an important opportunity for Cuba to expand its potential in these areas.
