During a speech at the 10th “Digital Industry of Industrial Russia” Conference, ongoing since June 2 in Nizhny Novgorod, the CEO stated that when the ROS comes online, it will be a platform for the development of space tourism.
Bakanov noted that Roscosmos is currently working on the creation of the station, which will replace the International Space Station, whose service life has already expired, although it is still in operation. According to the source, the new, all-Russian station should be ready for orbit between 2027 and 2033.
The station’s science and energy modules will be the first to be launched into space in late 2027. The launch of the universal node, airlock, and basic modules is planned for the year 2030 forming the core of the station along with the science and energy module.
In the second stage, from 2031 to 2033, the station should be expanded by docking two destination modules.
The estimated cost of the project is 608.9 billion rubles (almost seven billion US dollars).
