Infrastructure improvement works are being carried out in Colombia

Bogota, Jun 7 (Prensa Latina) The Colombian government is working on the improvement of the air infrastructure in the municipality of Tibú, in the department of Norte de Santander, to improve the connectivity of that northeastern region with the rest of the country.

According to the Civil Aeronautics, commercial operations will resume next June 18 at the terminal, with flights from Cúcuta, the departmental capital, operated by the Satena airline.

The investment in improvements, with a progress rate of over 62%, amounts to 711 billion pesos (some 172 million 300 thousand dollars), is assigned to work on runways, aprons, taxiways, signage, drainage, poly-shade enclosures, water and sanitary installations and sprinkler systems, .

The work, framed within the commitments acquired with the inhabitants of the Catatumbo region, guarantees safe conditions for air operations in passenger transport and also the transfer of medical services, food and other necessary goods for the population of Tibú and nearby areas, according to the source.

On the other hand, the national government is also carrying out works for the recovery of tertiary roads, aqueducts, sports centers and social projects in the municipalities of Tibú, Teorama, Convención, El Tarra, San Calixto, El Carmen and Sardinata, in Catatumbo, to encourage local development.

These works are being carried out with the participation of the Second Division of the National Army, which deployed units from the 50th Construction Engineers Battalion and the 30th Combat Engineers Battalion to the area.
