A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected “any act of violence that seeks to affect the political and social stability” of the neighboring nation.
The statement expressed confidence that the Colombian authorities will conduct a “thorough and transparent investigation into this regrettable event.”
We express our solidarity with Senator Uribe Turbay, his family, and the Colombian people, it stated.
At a political event yesterday, the 39-year-old presidential candidate was the victim of a firearm attack in a park in the town of Fontibon, in the western part of the capital. He was seriously injured and taken to Santa Fe Foundation health center.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced this Sunday on national television that all investigation protocols had been activated to determine the whereabouts of the perpetrator.
