Uruguayan Government shows progress in Health

Montevideo, June 9 (Prensa Latina) The Uruguayan government presented actions and plans underway that would guide its actions in various fields, mainly in health, upon completing its first 100 days in office.

A communication from the Presidency of the Republic refers to improved access to a hundred missing medications in the pharmacies of the State Health Services Administration (ASSE), which “have already been restored.”

It mentions the project to create the Drug Regulatory Agency to “guarantee access, transparency, and quality in the health system.”

It also mentions the free administration of the meningococcal vaccine to children under 2 years of age and adolescents between 11 and 12 years of age, “a key advance in health equity.”

The remodeling of the neonatal and pediatric intensive care center at Salto City Hospital is underway, and binational care on the border with Brazil is being strengthened.

The report states that the 2025-2030 National Mental Health Plan will expand services, add in new therapies, and strengthen addiction care in line with the standards of the Comprehensive Health Care Plan.

In addition, the pilot mental health plan for the department of Rio Negro and improvements to the Fray Bentos Hospital will transform it into a regional center.
