In statements to the press, disclosed on the digital news site of the Sky TG24 television channel, the prominent film director referred to the current protests taking place both in Los Angeles and in other cities against the current government of his country, and said that “I do not see compassion in this administration.”
“In fact, it seems that they are happy with the opposite, with hurting, humiliating,” Scorsese said when referring to the situation affecting that metropolis, where military forces were deployed since last June 6. He added that “I am disappointed, the president has an attitude based on anger and hatred.”
Trump went so far as to consider the protests against the immigration raids in Los Angeles as a foreign invasion, in response to which he mobilized some 4,000 members of the National Guard and almost 700 marines against the demonstrators, turning that city in the state of California into a veritable battlefield.
Since the president deployed the uniformed forces in that Californian town, protests have sprung up in other cities, such as Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, Boston, New York, Chicago and Washington DC, an anti-government wave against Trump dictatroship that seems unstoppable, according to observers.
