Cambodia’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Keo Chhea, denounced that such measures violate the fundamental principle of sovereign equality and non-intervention enshrined in the UN Charter.
He also considered that these measures disproportionately affect vulnerable countries that depend heavily on international cooperation and have a limited capacity to absorb external shocks.
Chhea reiterated Cambodia’s support for a rule-based multilateral trading system and the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.
The ambassador called for the establishment of a fair, inclusive, and cooperative world economic order based on international law, mutual respect, and multilateral cooperation.
Malaysia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and ASEAN Ambassador Ahmad Faisal Muhamad stated that the UCMs contradict the principles of sovereignty, equality, and non-interference respected by the bloc’s members.
