The clash occurred the day before in the district of Aden Yabaal and among the casualties were three commanders of Al Shabab (The Youth, in Arabic), the main enemy of the Somali central government, loyal to the Al Qaeda network since 2012.
The clash was part of a special joint operation with the National Intelligence and Security Agency and “international allies”, a tacit allusion to U.S. military specialists operating a drone control center in the capital.
The insurgent command was detected in a house that served as a strategic center for storing weapons and mobilizing members, adds the text endorsed by the Ministry of Information and Tourism.
Another result of the operation was the destruction of combat vehicles used by the Islamists in their frequent attacks, and unspecified quantities of weapons and equipment, the source stated.
