Iran to continue its nuclear program under international law

Tehran, June 23 (Prensa Latina) Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi assured that his country will continue its uranium enrichment and nuclear program in accordance with international standards, despite the war unleashed by Israel.

We are members of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and within this framework, we continue to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes to meet our country’s needs, the official stated in an interview with German public television station ARD, as cited by the national press. The deputy minister also denounced the US bombing of three Iranian nuclear sites and warned that as victims of ongoing aggression, we have the right to defend ourselves under Article 51 of the UN Charter, and that is what we will do.

When asked about the next steps, Ravanchi noted that he is not a military officer, but asserted that “our army knows what to do and will do it with precision.”

Regarding the proposed dialogue, he noted that Tehran was in talks with Washington when it was attacked by Israel on June 13.

“When Israel attacks us with the help of the United States, there is no point in continuing the dialogue.

We don’t negotiate just for the sake of negotiating,” he explained.

Ravanchi also criticized German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who stated that Israel “is doing the dirty work” for “all of us.”

It is very regrettable that Merz would use such words.

We don’t know if he regrets it or not, but that is not the appropriate way to address such important issues.

“We hope that Germany will stand on the side of the victim, not the aggressor,” he concluded.
