Trump upset with Israel and Iran, no ceasefire

Washington, June 24 (Prensa Latina) After congratulations and even a "God bless you" when he unilaterally announced a ceasefire agreement, US President Donald Trump lashed out at Israel and Iran because the crisis continues.

Trump — who, by the way, recently complained that he didn’t have a Nobel Peace Prize award — unveiled the terms of a supposed total cessation of hostilities and even gave the conflict a name: The 12-Day War.

But the conflict continues, and the president’s discontent surfaced. “Israel, as soon as we made the deal, they came out and they dropped a load of bombs, the likes of which I’ve never seen before, the biggest load that we’ve seen,” he said, in the strongest-worded public rebuke of Israel of any US president in history.

“We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing,” he said.

Later, the president insisted that he was “very upset” that Israel was moving ahead without respecting the anticipated truce, in what Trump’s public criticism of his staunch ally constituted an apparent significant shift from his and his predecessors’ policy toward Tel Aviv.

Meanwhile, in the US Congress, House Speaker Mike Johnson opposes the bipartisan war powers resolution to authorize Trump’s strikes against Iran.

Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie, who opposes the United States’ re-engagement in foreign conflicts, introduced a bill on Capitol Hill to curb U.S. participation in this new war effort.

And this Tuesday, Representative Al Green (D-Texas) also introduced another bill: an article of impeachment against President Trump, accusing him of failing to notify and seek congressional authorization before the United States launched strikes against three Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend.
