The 66 deputies of the organization submitted the initiative in the lower house to try to bring down the head of Matignon, who has survived seven motions presented by other left-wing parties, notably La France Insoumise, which did not have the support of the Socialists.
The PS negotiated with Bayrou the convening of a forum with the unions and employers to address the reform that came into force in 2023, rejected by the majority of the French by imposing retirement at 64, instead of 62.
After the failure of the consultation, abandoned by the General Confederation of Labor and Fuerza Obrera, two of the main unions in the country, the Socialists demanded that the Prime Minister submit the issue of retirement to parliamentary debate, a demand that has been ignored so far.
In this context, a new attempt to overthrow the government and to make Bayrou suffer the same fate as his predecessor in office, Michel Barnier, who was censured last December in the Chamber of Deputies, has reached the National Assembly.
