Spain assumes European leadership with the United Nations

presidente-del-Gobierno-de-España,-Pedro-Sánchez
Seville, July 1 (Prensa Latina) The organization of the Financing for Development Conference (FFD4) in Seville allows Spain to assume a kind of European leadership with the United Nations.

An idea that was underscored the day before by the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, when he announced, as part of the FFD4 Seville Commitment document, the opening of a UN headquarters in Madrid to house various agencies of the world’s leading authority.

Sánchez’s support for the UN and its Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, became more eloquent with various statements by the Iberian country’s Prime Minister regarding his commitment to multilateralism and specific assistance projects for sustainable development.

This Tuesday, Spain’s Second Vice President and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Diaz, consolidated this perspective by offering her support to the International Labor Organization (ILO) programs and offices that the United States is “failing” due to lack of funding.

Accompanied by ILO Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo, the Vice President noted at the Seville Congress and Exhibition Center that it is now imperative to build a new global pact “that overcomes selfishness.”
