Israel has no autonomy over the occupied Palestinian territories, the Foreign Ministry stressed in a statement in response to the recent declaration by Zionist Justice Minister, Yariv Levin, who called for the annexation of the West Bank.
The statement added that such a thing is a flagrant violation of international law and Israel’s obligations as the occupying power in the Palestinian territories.
In turn, ministry spokesman Sufian Al-Qudah announced that such pronouncements are also an unacceptable attack on the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent and sovereign state as established on June 4, 1967, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.
He emphasized the Hashemite Kingdom’s categorical rejection and strong condemnation of these statements, which highlight the Israeli government’s extremist policies and ongoing illegal practices in the West Bank, including incursions and settlement construction.
According to the spokesperson, this is a flagrant violation of international law, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2334 and the International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion, which emphasized the need to end the Israeli occupation, the illegality of colonial settlement construction, and the invalidity of all measures to annex occupied Palestinian territory.
