Marco Papacci, president of the Italy-Cuba National Friendship Association (ANAIC), highlighted that the event held on the eve, organized by this group, was attended by the ambassador of the Caribbean country, Mirta Granda, as well as local leaders of the Communist Refoundation and People’s Power parties.

The activity, held at the social center La Poderosa, affiliated to the Cultural Association for Social Promotion (ARCI), was also attended by members of the Italian Communist Party, the Network of Communists, as well as the left-wing youth organizations Cambiare Rotta and Alternativa Student Opposition (OSA), among other groups.

Hernandez, one of the five anti-terrorist fighters who suffered long years of imprisonment in US prisons for acting in defense of his country, thanked in his words the support of the Italian solidarity movement demanding their release from prison, finally achieved in December 2014.
The coordinator of the Committees for the Defence of the Revolution, a member of the Cuban Parliament and a member of the Council of State, described the serious consequences for his people of the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, as well as the unjust inclusion of the island in the list of countries alleged sponsor of terrorism.
Rocco Sproviero, secretary of the Turin circle of the Anaic, and Paolo Ferrero, provincial leader of the Communist Refoundation Party took the floor and agreed to highlight the importance of the Cuban hero’s visit to Italy, and emphasized the commitment to raise actions in support of Cuba.
The most important activities included an event in Plaza Ernesto Che Guevara, in the city of Collegno, on July 5, as well as his climb last Monday to Pico Fidel (Fidel´s peak), in the Alps, where a tribute was paid to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in chief, Fidel Castro.
