The main event brings together Kuala Lumpur a large number of foreign ministers and high-ranking diplomats from around the world to discuss pressing global and regional issues, foster cooperation, and advance the regional bloc’s security and sustainability agenda.
In addition to Malaysia, the Association is comprised of Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Brunei, and Myanmar.
The Kuala Lumpur Convention Center hosts 24 meetings from July 8 to 11, with representatives from several international organizations, as well as ASEAN’s external dialogue partners: Australia, Canada, China, the European Union (EU), India, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
According to Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin, Secretary-General of the Malaysian Foreign Ministry, the participation of all ASEAN external partners reflects the growing interest of other countries in the regional grouping’s strategic role on the global geopolitical stage.
