According to an official report, as part of the Monteczuma Operation, they arrested 11 people, including three women and eight men, all of Panamanian nationality.
Sources from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, cited by the newspaper La Prensa, indicate that those involved were allegedly linked to a loss of assets exceeding $290,000.
Preliminary investigations revealed the modus operandi of this ring, which consisted of opening bank accounts using nonexistent funds to carry out transactions.
The crime materialized during a three-day failure in the bank’s system, which allowed those involved to illegally move the money.
During the search warrants, two firearms, ammunition, technological equipment, and several documents were seized and made available to judicial authorities to strengthen the investigative process.
