A statement from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers notes that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced, during her speech at the event, that “together we have made commitments totaling more than 10 billion euros at today’s conference.”
In addition to Meloni, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Antonio Costa, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Albanian Prime Minister Edy Rama, the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, and German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz participate in this meeting.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk; Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof; European Commission Vice President Raffaele Fitto; and US Special Envoy for Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg, also attend the event at La Nuvola Convention Center in the Eur district in Rome. Shortly before the conference began, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani met with Kellogg to discuss the objectives of this meeting and the interest in achieving consensus and broad US participation in these investment plans for Ukraine.
During her speech, the Italian prime minister underscored that her country intends to play a leading role in this process, and stressed that it “can do so” because, due to “its solid and extraordinary productive structure, it has everything necessary to generate an investment multiplier, an opportunity multiplier.”
Zelensky, who met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella on Wednesday following a brief meeting with Pope Leo XIV, stated at this conference that “we are working to create a grand coalition for recovery and reconstruction.”
