As planned, Lavrov will chair the Russia-ASEAN meeting and attend the sessions of the East Asia Summit and the ASEAN regional security forum, which will be held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.
This year, Malaysia presides over ASEAN, a regional bloc also comprising Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Brunei, and Myanmar.
Representatives from several international organizations, and ASEAN’s external dialogue partners: Australia, Canada, China, the European Union (EU), India, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States, traveled to this capital to attend these events.
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Lavrov will hold a series of bilateral meetings with his Asian counterparts.
