This Friday morning, a performance by La Colmenita Children’s Theater Company opens the fair’s cultural program, which will also include other exhibitions such as dance, literature, and visual arts.
The “Encuentro con…” program, hosted by Magda Resik, will return every Thursday. It will provide insight into the life and work of figures in the arts and culture such as Carlos Alberto “Tin” Cremata, founder and director of La Colmenita; and leading actress Isabel Santos, among many others.
On the Paths of Art, hosted by Marianela Dufflar, this year is pleased to welcome musicians Abel Gerones and Christopher Simpson, actress Miriam Socarras, and journalists Indira Roman and Alejandro Rodriguez, to name a few.
There will also be a space focused on literature, a Peña Campesina (countryside club), and a Peña Tres Tas (three rates club), the latter dedicated to trova music; and Sin Tanto Drama (without so much drama), to discuss the performing arts. As usual, there will be concerts, children’s shows, and musical releases, among other initiatives.
Performing acts will include the female groups Canela and Las Anacaonas, the Failde Orchestra, and other artists from the Hermanos Saiz Association (AHS) catalog.
One of the new features is the admission price, which will be 50 pesos in local currency, slightly lower than last year.
Students, pregnant women, people with disabilities, and children up to 12 years old are exempt from paying.
The 24th Art on the Ramp Fair is shaping up to be a platform for cultural promotion, in the broadest sense of the word.
It’s an event that focuses on Cuban art and culture beyond crafts.
